Make Sense is an early-stage environmental sensing company based in Falmouth, Cornwall.
We started from an observation. The instruments needed to measure air, heat and surface condition have become small, cheap and good enough to put on an ordinary vehicle — but the way this data is bought and produced hasn’t caught up. Organisations still commission occasional surveys of single things, then make decisions in the gaps between them.
We think the gaps are where the interesting part is.
What we believe
Measurement beats assumption.
A great deal of environmental decision-making runs on modelled values that have never been checked against the thing they describe. Measuring is harder. It is also the part nobody else is doing.
Honesty about limits is a feature.
Every sensing method has an edge. Being straight about where ours is makes the rest of what we say worth more — to a buyer, and to us.
Useful beats impressive.
A layer that loads into the system someone already uses beats a platform they have to be persuaded to adopt.
